Discover how easy dental crown treatment can be at our Victoria, TX, dental practice.

The Far-Reaching Benefits of a Crown

Improved Function

Crowns strengthen the structure of a tooth after trauma, decay, or root canal therapy. With a crown from our Victoria dental office, you'll be able to eat, speak, and enjoy life without dental pain.

Lifelike Results

Our crowns can be made from a variety of materials, including multiple natural-looking options. Dental porcelain is a popular choice because the resulting crowns look indistinguishable from the rest of your teeth. Many patients are surprised at how seamlessly their crowns blend in with their smiles.

Enhanced Appearance

Whether your crown is used to strengthen a damaged tooth or to conceal a cosmetic concern like deep discoloration, this treatment can bring balance to your smile, enhance your facial appearance, and make you look healthier and more youthful.

Select Crowns Made From Porcelain for the Best of Both Worlds

Crowns made from porcelain offer a blend of strength and aesthetics. Not only is the material durable, but porcelain can also be color-matched to your enamel so that your final restoration will look just like a natural tooth.

Office Exterior

“I would highly recommend this office."

"The entire staff treated me with great respect, monitoring my dental fear, stress and high anxiety levels throughout each appointment. They did blood pressure and pulse rate checks, gave me breaks whenever needed, explained each procedure before hand and had a stress ball waiting for me at each appointment. My only regret is that I do not live here permanently to keep this office as my only dentist!" Sherrie Brown

Why We Offer CEREC Technology

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This may sound complicated, but is actually a system that greatly simplifies the process of getting a dental crown. There are several advantages to CEREC:

Speed

Historically, dentists would outsource crown production to a lab, forcing patients to wait weeks for the finished product. Meanwhile, CEREC crowns are designed and fabricated here in our Victoria office and are typically ready in less than an hour.

Precision

CEREC uses computer-assisted design (CAD) and computer-assisted manufacturing (CAM) to transform precise digital impressions into a blueprint for your crown. This means your crown is precisely crafted to your smile, looks like your other teeth, and complements your bite.

Protection

In the past, patients would wear a temporary crown while they waited on the lab-made permanent version. CEREC eliminates the need for temporary crowns, giving you the necessary oral health protection before you walk out the door and saving you some money.

Ditch the Wait for a Permanent Crown at Our Convenient Dental Office

Having a broken, damaged, or exposed tooth can feel nerve-wracking. While crowns are the most frequently applied dental restoration (as stated by the American College of Prosthodontists), you may have a few worries about them.

Many patients fear that once their tooth is damaged, they will have to wait weeks or even months for a dental crown. Even if they receive a temporary crown to address this concern, they may instead worry about having to return to the dentist for a second appointment.

At our Victoria dental office, you won't have to worry about restoring a tooth for much longer. Instead of placing a temporary crown, we will use our state-of-the-art CEREC machine to craft a crown that looks just like a natural tooth. Whether you have experienced tooth decay or you're reinforcing a tooth after a root canal, our CEREC machine can alleviate at least some of your dental worries.

We Also Offer Lab-Made Options

While same-day crowns are a fantastic option for many of our Victoria patients, there are still reasons why we might recommend a traditional lab-made crown in some situations.

CEREC restorations are all made from dental porcelain, a strong material that matches the color of your natural teeth. However, some patients may opt for a different material based on their budget or needs. In addition to porcelain, a lab can create dental crowns out of a variety of materials including zirconia, gold, and porcelain fused to metal. During your consultation, we can discuss all of the options and determine if you are a better candidate for a CEREC crown or a lab-made dental crown.

Paying for Your Crown

Our team believes dental care should always be affordable, and we do what we can to place it within the budgets of our patients.

Dental insurance often contributes to the cost of a crown when it's used for restorative purposes. However, if your crown is used to conceal cosmetic flaws, you'll likely have to pay out of pocket.

Our Victoria dental office accepts most insurances and will help you maximize your benefits. If you are uninsured or have out-of-pocket costs, we accept financing.

Choose a Dental Team That Truly Cares for You

When you visit a dentist for a broken or damaged tooth, you may feel nervous, especially if you are already in pain.

At Grant Heller, DDS, our goal is to make you feel at ease from the moment you walk in the door. That way, you feel comfortable and cared for during your treatment.

For our dental team, every detail is important, both big and small. Whether that means our convenient text reminders before an appointment or a same-day crown so you can return to your life with restored dental function, we will aim to give you exceptional care.

The Dental Crown Attachment Process in Action

A durable dental crown can fit over a damaged tooth or a dental implant. You can choose from lab-created options like porcelain-fused-to-metal or zirconia, as well as a CEREC-made porcelain crown, to effectively restore your tooth.

Same-Day Crown Treatment Timeline

Your CEREC crown can be ready in about an hour, so you can return to your day quickly.
Your CEREC crown can be ready in about an hour, so you can return to your day quickly.

Consultation

You will begin your treatment at our Victoria practice with a comprehensive dental exam. After assessing your oral health, our dentist will create a personalized treatment plan.

Preliminary Procedures

Sometimes, we need to perform a preliminary treatment to address the underlying problem. For example, a serious infection may require a root canal to remove bacteria and decay from the inner tooth structure.

Tooth Prep

Next, our dentist will reshape the affected tooth to make room for the dental crown. Once the tooth has been reshaped, we will take digital impressions.

Design

Your scans will appear on a chairside monitor. We use these scans to design your custom crown. Once our dentist has completed the blueprint, it will be sent to our in-office milling machine.

Production

The CEREC milling device will be set up with a solid block of tooth-colored porcelain. In under an hour, it will carefully carve the dental crown to the precise specifications of your smile.

Placement

When your crown is ready, our dentist will place it over the reshaped tooth and assess its fit and feel. If you and your dentist are both happy with the results, we will cement the crown in place with special dental cement.

Implant-Supported Crowns To Replace an Entire Tooth

If you are interested in replacing missing teeth with dental implant-supported crowns, your treatment timeline will look different.

Implants are placed in a surgical procedure and fuse to your jawbone over about four to six months. When this process is complete, we move on to the next phase of placing the prosthetic tooth. While the dental implant treatment process can span several months, it is ultimately considered the best solution for patients with a single missing tooth.
